As long as people have made art there have been portraits. History is full of famous portraits. A portrait was often commissioned at a significant moment in someone’s life, such as betrothal, marriage, or elevation to an office. A portrait does not merely record someone’s features, however, but says something about who he or she is, offering a vivid sense of a real person’s presence. I try to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person in every portrait.

When I was younger, I painted landscapes almost exclusively. I stopped completely once I went to college and then moved to Savannah, Georgia. Now I have come full circle and LOVE to travel.
